Founded in 2001, located in Asheville on Fairview Road near Sweeten Creek, the French Broad Brewery is a continental European-style production brewery. Andrew Dahm is the president. Chris Richards is Head Brewer.
Most famous for the Wee-Heavy-Er Scotch Ale, French Broad beer can be found throughout the Carolinas, in Athens and Atlanta, and as far west as Nashville. In Asheville, the French Broad Brewery has 93 tap lines in 61 different locations.
Currently the Brewery offers six staple, year-round beers: the Wee-Heavy-Er Scotch Ale, 13 Rebels ESB, IPA, Ryehopper, Gateway Kolsch, and Anvil Porter. These are always on tap at the Tasting Room, open from 1 PM to 8 PM Monday-Sunday, along with an assortment of seasonal specialties, and frequently a beer on cask. Pints at the Tasting Room (typically $3.50) are a dollar off on Mondays, and growler refills (typically $7.00/$8.00) are a dollar off Wednesdays.
The Brewery is happy to feature live music on the Tasting Room stage every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
